PLANTS MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY

In case you need a nudge...

Here are a few good reasons to live with a Plant (or two...hundred).

Plants Remove Airborne Pollutants. Most people don't realize that air pollution is often higher indoors than outside, even in large cities. Research has shown that plants will remove toxins from interior spaces. Indoor plants can help to remove many pollutants including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which can cause headaches, nausea, and other health concerns.

Plants Provide Oxygen. In addition to filtering chemicals, plants also emit clean air, improving the air quality around them. When we breathe, our bodies take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. During photosynthesis, plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. This opposite pattern of gas use makes plants and people natural partners. Adding plants to interior spaces can increase oxygen levels. There are even a few plants, including orchids and bromeliads, that continue to take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen even after dark. Place these plants in bedrooms to provide fresh air during the night.

Plants are Natural Humidifiers. Instead of plugging in a humidifier machine, just bring in a plant or two. Plants release water in the form of vapor, which increases the humidity of the air around them. Plants release roughly 97% of the water they take in. By placing several plants together, you can increase the humidity of a room. This can reduce the amount of airborne particles in your home and help keep respiratory distress away. Studies have also shown that using plants in interior spaces decreases the occurrence of dry skin, colds, sore throats, and coughs.
